Example storyline: Hyraxan system - Tempest -
A.I. (SPOILER!):
You arrive on one of the larger orbital
space stations surrounding Tempest. You are surprised that the
landing procedure is fully automated and you can just lean back
and watch your ship being landed safely on the local landing
platform. As you soon discover after leaving your ship and
paying the small landing fee to a waiting protocol droid, the
affairs of the orbital station have been handed over to an
artificial intelligence (A.I.) and various forms of droids. It´s
convenient and frees the small local population from the burden
of governing and control. Option: Continue
As you walk through the public area of the orbital station you
strangely do not see any local humans at all. The only living
beings are travellers, like you. As you turn around a corner,
you suddenly see someone waving in your direction as if asking
for help. You run over and are dragged into a little room.
"Shhhhh", the unknown whispers and you notice that it´s a young
woman. "What´s up?" you ask, alarmed by the situation.
Option: Continue "The A.I. has rebelled against us
and killed or imprisoned most of the people," she tells you. "It
said that humans themselves are a threat to the peace and
prosperity of the station and that the only logical solution is
the extermination of the population. You have to help me to pull
the plug on this devious machine." Suddenly she looks worried.
"You won´t leave me here alone, will you?" she asks with a
frightened look on her pretty face. Option: Help
her OR Hand her over (Let´s assume you chose to
help her. If you want to get to know what happens if you hand
her over, download the game and see yourself!) She
tells you her plan. The survivors are herded together in a
prison section of the orbital station. What you must do is shoot
a hole into the hull, at a safe distance but not too far from
the prison. The girl and a couple of surviving rebels will then
attack the prison, shoot their way in and bring the prisoners to
your ship. As soon as you take off from the station, she will
start the attack. Before you leave, she kisses you on your
cheek. "Thank you!" Option: Continue
As you take off you receive a hidden transmission from the A.I.
survivors. They are just starting their attack on the prison. Do
you want to fulfill your promise and help them to rescue
everyone? Option: Fulfill promise OR not (Let´s
assume you fulfill your promise.) You shoot a hole
into the hull of the orbital station and seal the leak with an
energy shield. You are very proud of your accomplishment. It
doesn´t take long until the first of the prisoners arrive - a
group of ill-looking rag-tags lead by the girl and a group of
heavily armed men. You don´t have much space and they have to
make themselves comfortable in the cargo hold. Needless to say
the A.I. isn´t particularly happy about your actions and, as you
take off, you are attacked. Option: Continue
(Now you have to fight your way through) You are
able to escape and, once you have put some distance between you
and the orbital station, you go to the cargo space to speak to
the survivors. They ask you to bring them to Hyraxan.
Option: Continue (As you arrive on Hyraxan...)
The survivors of Tempest and the government thank you for your
help. You receive a reward and the gratitude of the people. (You
get money & experience points). Did you like
the story? There are many, many more in the game and (almost)
every game you will encounter new stories.
